چکیده

We will use forest inventory data from a long-term ecological research site in western Oregon (WEF). These data consist of a census of all trees in a 10 ha stand. Diameter at breast height (DBH) and tree height (HT) have been measured for all trees in the stand. For a subset of these trees, the distance from the center of the stem to the edge of the crown was measured at each of the cardinal directions. Rarely do we have the luxury of a complete census, but rather a subset of trees are sampled using a series of inventory plots. This sample is then used to draw inferences about parameters of interest (e.g., mean stand DBH or correlation between DBH and HT). We defer these analyses to subsequent example sessions. Here, we simply use these data to demonstrate some basics of spatial data manipulation, visualization, and exploratory analysis. We begin by removing rows that have NA for the variables of interest, creating a vector of DBH and HT, and plotting the tree coordinates.

Exploring the Relationships between Spatial and Demographic Parameters and Urban Water Consumption in Esfahan Using Association Rule Mining

In recent years, Iran has faced serious water scarcity and excessive use of water resources. Therefore, exploring the pattern of urban water consumption and the relationships between geographic and demographic parameters and water usage is an important requirement for effective management of water resources. In this study, association rule mining has been used to analyze the data of municipal w...

Spatial modelling of zonality elements based on compositional nature of geochemical data using geostatistical approach: a case study of Baghqloom area, Iran

Due to the existence of a constant sum of constraints, the geochemical data is presented as the compositional data that has a closed number system. A closed number system is a dataset that includes several variables. The summation value of variables is constant, being equal to one. By calculating the correlation coefficient of a closed number system and comparing it with an open number system, ...

Exploring the Patterns of In-Between Spaces in Guilan Historical Houses

The aim of this paper is to explain the spatial patterns of in-between spaces in Guilan historical houses in order to show their potential capacity in having various functions, and thus different forms, in the course of history. In-between spaces are mediators between two other spaces making them accessible or visible for each other. An explanation of their spatial patterns can both reveal the ...

Study of Spatial Data Quality Elements and VGI Linear Data Quality Assessment Methods

Volunteered Geographic Information has provided a rich and valuable resource for spatial data in a variety of applications. Despite the many benefits, this information does not provide any guarantee for their quality. So far, there are several methods to determine the quality of VGI. In addition to introducing quality elements and their evaluation methods, the present study attempts to explore ...

Exploring the spatial patterns of three prevalent cancer latent risk factors in Iran; Using a shared component model

Background and aims: The aim of this study was the modeling of the incidence rates of Colorectal, breast and prostate cancers using a shared component model in order to explore the spatial pattern of their shared risk factors (i.e., obesity and low physical activity) affecting on cancer incidence, and also to estimate the relative weight of these shared components. Methods: In this study,...
